en·LIGHT·ened ap·PAR·ent·ly
(adjective | adverb | state of being) A pursuit of feeling in tune completely with yourself and the universe while also understanding life makes things complicated.
Welcome to the Chaos of Humaning.
Introducing: Enlightened, Apparently
Forget about spirituality for a minute, let’s talk about humanity. As philosopher-mystic Pierre Teilhard de Chardin has famously observed,
“We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience.”
And humaning can be really f*cking hard.
Being human is complicated, and it often includes periods of darkness. This is what interests us at Enlightened, Apparently. The concept of “embodied spirituality” – which isn’t about snuffing out the dark and victoriously meditating at the top of a mountain. It’s learning to dance with the light and the dark.
Because most of us aren’t living in a secluded cave, we are HERE doing the hard work of humaning: going to a job, paying our bills, navigating complex relationships, illness and ailments, heartbreak and grief, love and loss, compassion and anger, victory and failure, joy and despair.
THIS is the human experience. We can touch the light…and yet *still* have to navigate the dark. A bit disappointing, isn’t it?!
That’s why our goal at Enlightened, Apparently is to offer resources and experiences that help you navigate the often-messy journey of humaning, and to answer the very real questions we hear you asking:
When will life stop feeling chaotic? What can I do to be a good person? I’ve seen the light, now how can I feel that way all the time? How can I create a better future? Why am I even on this planet?
Our aim is to do this with a lot of encouragement, a bit of irreverence, and a dash of sass – because we also believe in keeping things FUN.
We believe there’s a place for the reverence and seriousness of healing and growth, but we also believe in laughter and levity and childlike curiosity. Because light and dark work best when woven together.

We got a lot to offer (We pinky promise.)
Come To The Dark Side
Here at Enlightened, Apparently we want to embrace the parts of spirituality that don’t always get the spotLIGHT (pun intended). While it’s wonderful to play with the gifts of the mind, the spirit, the light and the Heavens – these are all aspects of the divine masculine. A tale as old as time. But a story that’s even older? A story that we forgot about?
The story of the dark. The story of the divine feminine. A story that says, hey remember this weird skinsuit you’re in? And this thing beating inside your chest? And this place you’re walking upon made of grass and dirt? And say, what’s over there in that long-forgotten shadowy corner?
Because fearing the dark is a tale we’ve been told for a long time. And frankly, we’re tired of it! That whole snake in the garden story really did a number on the divine feminine marketing department. (It’s almost like it was intentional.)
But the truth is that life begins in the dark. The seed in the fertile soil, the embryo in the fertile womb, the idea gestating in the creative void – dark. Darkness isn’t just the opposite of light, it is the bringer of life itself.
Light isn’t better than dark, and dark isn’t better than light. We need BOTH. And it’s about damn time we learned to weave them back together.

On-Demand Classes
Unicorn Yin Yoga
Embrace your inner unicorn and get cozy. This practice won't push you to develop physical strength and agility - it will help you to develop mental and emotional strength and badassery. We think it's the perfect antidote to our overly busy, fast-paced, go-go-go culture that leads us straight into burnout. Here at Enlightened, Apparently we put a cheeky (some say bonkers) spin on the practice by hiring a Unicorn named Patricia to teach our class. Not sure what that means? Check out Unicorn Yin Yoga and you'll see.
Ever Felt Like Spirituality Isn't For You?
If you want to hear a lot of people apologizing for swearing, go to a spirituality conference. There seems to be a prevailing idea that spiritual people need to portray themselves a certain way. Do you feel like spirituality is telling you to be your authentic self – as long as that authentic self is all love and light?
But being human means experiencing the full spectrum of human emotion. And sometimes that hurts like hell. If your authentic self swears sometimes because you experience the human emotion of frustration – or excitement (can I get a f*ck yes!?) – or just because you think it’s kinda funny, then do that. You don’t have to be anyone else.
At Enlightened, Apparently we’re not here to be overtly offensive or obnoxious – but we’re also not here to apologize for being human. After all, we’re just “spiritual beings having a human experience” (Chardin). As far as we’re concerned, if you are here in a body, then you are a spiritual being. There’s nothing you have to do to prove it. So, please, be yourself. And let’s have some fun being human!
In-Person Retreats
Retreat w/Us
We love curating weird and whimsical experiences in magical locations. A retreat is a perfect way to reset your overworked nervous system, experience a little magic within the mundane, and carve out much-needed "you time" for reflection and healing. Come hug a tree, let your secret inner witch out to play, or nerd out hard on puzzling. We've said it before and we'll say it again: humaning is hard, so let's make it fun. We are serious about healing (but not serious about ourselves). We offer day and weekend retreats in Minnesota and soon-to-be other locations. Come for the transformative healing, stay for the fun.
